Scriptures
“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
—Hebrews 13:20-21

He Is The Father Of My Two Children
Submitted by S
Q

My relationship with my ex-boyfriend has now been over for two months. He is also the father of my two children. Our relationship was good at first but through the years it was very disappointing! To admit, I have fooled around on him with someone else. I broke his heart but he still accepted me in to his heart. Now, we have a newborn baby. To be honest, I promised myself that when she was born I would change my ways. We both moved in with each other only for one and a half months; for him to tell me that he had a girlfriend! To make things worse, this pregnancy was not planned and I had other options for my child. I wasn't ready for it but he said he will be there when I needed him. Now, he has all these rules and games that he's playing. First he tells me he loves me only to turn around days after to tell me he doesn't want me. I love him so much and I want him to be the one and only man in my life. Now my children and I are put on hold till he figures out what he wants. I want to work on the relationship. What should I do?

A

There isn't much you can do to work on the relationship with your boyfriend at this time. Don't "nag" at him but stay in touch. Be as pleasant and fun loving as you possibly can. Let him see a different person; one that he would like to get to know all over again. This won't be easy with a broken heart but pray for strength and God will help you. Never speak anything bad about him to your children or to anyone else. The Spirit of God works through love, so be loving.

God is the only one who sees and knows everything. The Holy Spirit needs to handle this situation because He searches all things.

1Corinthians 2:10-11...The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit will search the heart of your boyfriend and He already knows the heart of God. If something can be done to save this relationship He will know how to do it. Anytime there are children involved in a relationship, God does all he can to repair that family. After all, God sent his Son to die that we could be saved and families could be made whole. God's power fixes broken hearts.

You must remember, though, that God created each of us with a free will to make our own choices. So when we make the wrong choice by not including God in our relationships, we pay a high price. Your boyfriend will still have that free will to choose. However, I am going to stand with you and choose to believe God will repair your relationship; and soon you will be writing to send me a wedding invitation. God is good, and wants the best in life for people.

The thing for you to do at this point is to throw yourself in the arms of Jesus, and stay there. This will keep the Holy Spirit activate, working on your situation. He has great love for you. If you have not repented of your sins, go to my Salvation Prayer Page and read the prayer from your heart. Then, just talk to the Lord in your own words. He loves you so much, so allow his love to fill your heart and hopefully your boyfriend will respond to the change in you. Begin reading your Bible. I like the NIV version because it's easier to understand and the Amplified version can give you more understanding. You can get to it on the Internet at www.biblegateway.com. Read or listen to the New Testament on CD three or four times before attempting the Old Testament.

If you don't have a church, find one now. Go every week if possible and take your children. Your boyfriend will see the change in his children. We always look for a Church of God or Assembly of God. They believe in the infilling of the Holy Spirit as it is described in the Book of Acts, with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues. If you're not familiar with this, don't be afraid, it's worshiping God in His language and Jesus commanded everyone to receive the fullness of the Spirit. (Acts 1:1-7)

Look on the Internet and find a church that is growing and alive with the Spirit so the teaching and worship will lift your spirits and receive the blessing of God. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will be your comforter and teacher; and you need both at this time. It will be easier for the Holy Spirit to change his heart if he has an example to look at; so be a good representative for the Lord.

Within the next week I should be putting a new article on Love's Answer that should help you very much. I will probably put it up in parts because I'm not completely finished with it but many people like you have written and need the scriptures that it contains. It's titled How To Solve Problems Using God's Power.
