Death Came To All People Through Adam's Sin   Print
Written by Cherie

n the beginning God didn't created mankind to die but to live forever. Adam sinned by doing what God said not to do, when he ate from the forbidden tree. That act of disobedience disconnected him from God and gave Satan power over him. Since he was created a spirit man, it took him from the light of God's Spirit into the darkness of Satan's spiritual world. It also gave Satan the authority to rule the earth that God had given to Adam. All people are born into a sinful world with a nature that is easily influenced by Satan. God however has made provision for all who choose his Son as our savior to live again in his righteousness as Adam once did.

Romans 5:12-19 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, (Adam) and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned-- for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.

But the gift (righteousness through salvation) is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation (to everyone), but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification (righteousness to those who believe). For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

Everyone Has Sinned

Romans 3:21-26 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
