Condemnation - What Does God Say About It?   Print
Written by Cherie

ondemnation in a person's life is the result of sin. It's only through repentance and receiving Jesus as Lord over our lives that we are no longer condemned. It's never any person's place to look upon someone with an attitude of condemnation. That act brings the disapproval of God. I hope these scriptures will help you in learning to be more Christ-like toward others.

What Does Condemnation Mean?

Matthew 23:33 "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

In the scripture above Jesus compared the teachers of the law and Pharisees with the scriptures and found them to be hypocrites. He didn't condemn them but only spoke what the result of their actions would bring. Condemnation has to do with finding someone guilty; it's a state of being that is punishable. If a man brakes a law against our judicial system then in accordance with the law a judge can convict him and he is condemned to the punishment for that offense. We as Christians have no right to punish, therefore, we have no right to condemn someone.

Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

It's God's decision whether a person is condemned or not and how He choose to handle that person here on earth as well as for eternity.

Romans 12:19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

The most we can do is to compare a person with the scriptures and try to help them with love and prayer.

Where does condemnation come from?

Romans 5:16 Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin (Adam): The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift (salvation by repentance through the sacrifice of Jesus) followed many trespasses and brought justification.

Romans 5:18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.

Romans 8:3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man.

John 3:18 Whoever believes in him (Jesus) is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

We condemn ourselves by what we say and do that is not in accordance with God's will. Even Christians sow bad seed when they speak doubt, fear, sickness, defeat, problems etc. We are to speak His Words from the Bible concerning our situation. Our words of faith gives the Holy Spirit a substance (faith) that the spiritual realm of God can work with to change earthly facts that affect our lives. When we use Satan's language of hopelessness we reap what we sow which is a type of condemnation robbing us of the victory that Jesus died for.

Matthew 12:33-37 "Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

John 5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

We Should All Practice The Same Kind Of Love As Jesus Did.

John 8:1-11 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"

"No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."
