atan tries to instill belief in a person's mind, often using feelings of fear, to get a person to act out the sins he's planned for them. Fortune telling, crystal power, talking to the dead, spells, magic (or magick, as some people like to call it), and astrology etc., are all sinful acts according to the Bible. From the time we are children, Satan takes small steps in trying to get people to believe in things like this, and when they have doubts, he rushes in with someone who's already doing his work to push them to believe more. He wants people to think that these things bring power in their lives, but actually, because they don't know the scriptures, Satan moves into their hearts and minds and eventually their souls. Then he has control of them. Satan never gives a person power over their life. Being absent from God's salvation puts a person under Satan's power. There's no in-between. Satan is persistent and will do anything to stop people from learning the truth of God. He is well awhere that every child of God has safety and protection "from him and his works" because of God's loving power for his children. Satan only has the ability to affect a born again, saved person as much as they'll let him; that's why knowing what's in the Bible is so important. The Word stops Satan and his attacks. His biggest lie is telling people they run their own lives; that they're on your own or doing just what they want to do, when all the time he is suggesting his works into their minds. He sells the lie that God's protection isn't really there when all the time he is well aware that Christian's safety and protection plus all of God's blessings are written in the Bible; which he is hindering people from reading. I've seen him fill people's lives, even Christians, so full of good clean fun that they ignore Bible study and never come into the maturity of the Lord. Then they wonder why they don't have miracle power when disaster strikes them or their loved ones. Satan uses fear to control people. Many times people don't do the things they should because they're afraid; afraid of what others might say, afraid they won't be good enough, afraid of what might happen later. Don't ever turn from doing something good because of fear. Fear is Satan's tool, his way to keep people from the blessings of God.
The Power Of God Is His Anointing It's the ability or the authority of God that overshadows a person with supernatural strength or knowledge to accomplish God's work. The strength of God's anointing in a person's life is usually in relationship to their faith which comes from the word of God. There have been cases where God has chosen to use a temporary anointing through a person, object or animal without consideration of the spiritual level of the one he is using, simply because he needed to accomplish what he wanted at the time. Once The Lord Opened A Donkey's Mouth To Speak Look at the anointing Jesus had: Luke 5:17 One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick . To have the anointing of God's power in your life, you must understand it's His divine power, not yours. God's power only works through the righteousness of born-again Christian people. It requires using His faith that comes from the Spirit and knowledge of His word. You can never mix God's power with Satan's counterfeits. Mediums, fortunetellers, psychics, and astrologers do not use God's power. They are not standing firm in His word nor do they give Jesus honor and glory for what they do. There are many scriptures that deal with people who use Satan's power to deceive other people because they are demon possessed. Acts 16:16-18 Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future . She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved." She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her. A person should never allow a demon possessed person to give them advice of any kind. They are accepting the works of Satan into their mind, heart and soul. It could destroy them in eternal hell if they embrace what that person says and follow that evil spirit. When a person is born into the family of God they have access to God's power. Even a new child of God, who only has a little faith and puts it into action, will receive God's anointing to do His work supernaturally. Some examples would be in witnessing, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school etc. As their faith grows and they learn more of God's ways a person will carry more of His anointing, ready for God to put it into action for His purposes as well as for the His protective power over that person. Everyone needs God's anointing working in their life. The first step to receiving that anointing is salvation. If you're not saved go to our Salvation Prayer page for help and begin a life fresh and new in God's anointing. There's No Fear In God God's power has nothing to do with magic, fortunetelling or astrology; it's not psychic, mystic or any of those things. Those are counterfeit versions of God's greatness which Satan has twisted to snare human beings into his trap and eventually into hell. ( Revelation 21:6-8 ) Have no fear about receiving anything like that from God. If you are sincere in you heart and you desire the things of God, you are totally protected by praying to God in the name of Jesus. He is not about to let any demon attack you, bringing you the wrong answers to your prayers. God always looks at a person's heart so let King David's prayer to God be the same prayer in your heart. Psalm 119:133 Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. When we feel weak, it is so good to know that God is in charge. If you there is an area in your life where you need real miraculous answers, or some area you need more understanding, simply go to God in humble prayer and ask Him to teach you. Many years ago, as a very young Christian, I prayed: "Lord, don't ever let me be deceived so that I wouldn't be allowed in your heaven." He heard that prayer and answered it, regarding the subject I was concerned about at the time. But He has also remembered that prayer. Many times since He has protected me, even when friends and family couldn't see the deceit in certain areas, God would open my eyes to reveal what was wrong there. Anytime there could have been the slightest confusion in my mind over something, he would further explain and even confirm what he was showing me. All that protection was the result of that simple little prayer that anyone could pray. Many times God has revealed deceit and gave me peace to finish the work at hand and other times he moved me completely out the situation. As a result of that prayer the Holy Spirit would teach me about how deceit got there and how it was working to take others over. God loves everyone and desires to teach each of us about His greatness, but we must spend time in his word and in his presence. It's an awesome thing to be taught by the Holy Spirit because then you know you have it right and what's right in a person's mind and heart is unchangeable. God is good and loves us so much; so push into His love and His knowledge and you will be greatly rewarded. James 1:4-8 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault , and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt , because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. God's Truth Exposes Satan's Works God will keep you safe. He wants you to know your enemy so you can fight against him effectively. This is your safety: Ephesians 5:11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them . If you are exposing one of Satan's many lies, you have set yourself against it and it can't take you over. You can't expose something you don't know about; so don't fear anything but trust in the Holy Spirit to teach you. God's power can only be used as Jesus used it: to help people and accomplish good results for the kingdom of God, never for selfish reasons, nor to call attention to oneself, but to give the Lord the glory for all that's being done. 1Chronicles 28:9 The Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. When a person tries to use the power of God for the wrong things, or chooses to live in willful sin, doing things that they know God hates, Satan is right there, ready with his counterfeits and all the deceit needed for that person to believe the lies. That person has left the door of their heart wide open for demon power to move in on them. There are people who have walked with the Lord for years that get their eyes focused on the wrong things and lose the favor of God because of their disobedience. Having been deceived by Satan, they believe that they still have the hand of God on their lives, and his power working through them. Hebrews 6:4-6 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened , who have tasted the heavenly gift , who have shared in the Holy Spirit , who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away , to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Hebrews 10:26-31 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I have witnessed several leaders in different churches that put on a good show while committing sinful acts that are described in the Bible. If people like these are not dealt with according to the scriptures, the deceit they received will reach out to deceive others. 2Peter 2:17-22 These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity--for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him . If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command tha t was passed on to them . Of them the proverbs are true: "A dog returns to its vomit," and, "A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud." If someone says they haven't sinned since they were saved, don't believe them. It's false pride that makes a man boast. (Proverbs 16:18 and Proverbs 29:23) Living for Christ is a life-long series of lessons to be learned, and we will need to repent for some of our actions as we grow in the Lord and learn to live righteously. Never give up in your trials to live righteously. Jesus went to the cross to give us strength. Hebrews 12:4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. God's Safety Pray and seek God about finding the right church go to and who to learn from. We should always live as holy as we know how, according to what we have learned. Then when someone who is unholy prays for us or tries to teach us, God's protection will be in place. He honors His word in our lives when we believe the truth and protects us from false doctrine. We don't have to depend on the faith of whoever is teaching us or praying for us when we have our own from God. When we fail, we should immediately humble ourselves before God and repent. We all make mistakes, we're human. However, we can reach a place in the Lord where we live righteous and holy; pleasing to God with our complete perfection being fulfilled when we get to heaven. Romans 6:19 I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness . Romans 2:13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. Obeying is doing, it's God's grace that keeps us holy unto Him as we make our mistakes, repent and learn from them. Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace . Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. God has grace and help for you right at the place you are. Even if you are a sinner, Jesus will save you. Just call on his name. Again, if you need help, see our Salvation Prayer page. Never compare yourself to anyone else, you are unique to God. Be comfortable at the level that God is refining you. Daniel 11:35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end , for it will still come at the appointed time. Daniel 12:9-10 He replied, "Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. Hebrews 12:7-11 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons . For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Christians who obediently follow the spiritual training given in the Bible will have God's power working through them for His service. Never let anyone say or do something to hinder you in anyway; even if you've done something wrong repent and move on to receive more of God's power. 1Timothy 4:12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young , but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. It doesn't matter if other people know more or less than you; it doesn't matter whether they do more or less than you do. The important thing is that you act according to the fullness of what you know on a daily basis. James 4:17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. Don't ever let anything come between you and God. Keep his power flowing through you. Pray and talk to the Lord continually. 1Thessalonians 5:16-18 Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, (not for all circumstances but during all circumstances) for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Don't follow any preacher, follow Jesus. Follow what's in the Bible. That's your safety. Listen to those you can learn from, but remember they are human and can make mistakes. Always compare what they say with the Bible and pray for God's insight. I know that sounds hard if you're just starting out on your journey with the Lord. Trust the Holy Spirit to help you and God will give you revelation along with scriptures. Always ask God for his truth in every situation. Everyone needs a good church and a knowledgeable pastor. God promises to guide his children, so pray about where you should attend church. You don't want to receive anything that is not God's truth. |
